This is to keep the rate in line with current market interest rates allowing the lender to earn a profit. But you get a lower interest for a few years. These loans are good for people who intend to keep their home for only a few years. A 3/1 ARM loan offers a fixed rate for the first three years, adjusting the rate once each year thereafter.
Fixed-rate loans. Because they offer a monthly payment that is known and does not change, fixed-rate mortgage loans are the most popular type. Most fixed-rate mortgages are for loan terms of 15 or 30 years, but terms of longer are now available. to make homes more affordable to lower income people.
