                        FLORIDA TORNADOES

A tornado is a violently rotating column of air extending from a thunderstorm to the ground. The most violent tornadoes are capable of tremendous destruction with wind speeds of 250 mph or more. Florida is number one in number of tornadoes per square mile. Florida is also the number one state that is outside the 'tornado alley' in overall number of tornadoes. Florida can have a tornado on everyday of the year, but Hurricanes spawn numerous tornadoes (sometimes one hurricane can produce hundreds of tornadoes in Florida).

Because they can happen virtually anytime and anywhere, it’s wise for persons in Florida to pay attention to Tornadoes. Chris and Deane are proactive.  They have two weather radios in their home and always keep an eye on the weather. When the National Weather Service issues alerts because tornadoes are possible, our radios whale with a loud siren followed by an alert message.
